Dr. Amit Ghose selected medicine as a career after an enjoyable schooling in St. Xaviers Collegiate School. He graduated and post graduated from Calcutta Medical College. Subsequently, he proceeded to the United Kingdom and trained between 1987 and 1996. He returned to Calcutta where he has set up a comprehensive urological service in the private sector.

After his return from the UK, he has been associated with various institutions including Wockhardt Hospital and Kidney Institute, Woodlands Hospital, Kothari Medical Center and Anandalok Hospital. Currently he is dedicated his service to Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata.

The early part of the career journey witnessed Dr. Amit Ghose developing the general Urological service for the community of West Bengal mainly on the platform of Wockhardt Hospital. Then he set up his own private practice by establishing The Oxford Stone Clinic. This enabled him to make healthcare affordable for all strata of Society.

Currently Dr. Amit Ghose has developed a very well established and robust Urological presence in the campus of Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata. The practice takes care of all fundamental general Urological procedures, a vast multi-disciplinary Uro Oncology specialty, and also a comprehensive diagnostic and uro health check-up facility. Special mention needs to be emphasized that Dr. Amit Ghose was a part of the pioneering development in the First Robotic Urological service that has been set up at Apollo Gleneagles.

At the current stage Dr. Amit Ghose has also participated in various awareness programmes regarding Prostate Cancer, Prostate Health, Kidney Stones and Uro Infections with the help of innumerable Health Talks, Media Discussions and Seminars. He has also accelerated the growth of Urological knowledge through international seminars in Calcutta and the entire country.

On the whole, Dr. Amit Ghose has had a fulfilling experience in building a Urological career for himself, a service for the community of Bengal and also academic development for the entire Urological fraternity of the country.

Apart from being a doctor surgeon, Dr. Ghose felt necessity to give back to the society he belongs to. He founded Bengal Urology Trust and Prostate Cancer Foundation in Kolkata. He is the emeritus health committee chairperson of Bengal Chamber of Commerce. Through these organizations he organizes periodical awareness campaign on Urological diseases in general and Prostate (Cancer) in particular so that people after certain years of age become aware of good practice of urological health.

As the Chairperson of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Kolkata he has spear-headed a number of campaigns to promote the cause of awareness of the Prostate Cancer for the benefit of the lay public.

Many useful Urological Seminars have been conducted on the platform of Rotary and Lions for the benefit of the Society in general.
